Project 4

Developed Master Plan

The main concept behind designing this Music Theatre is to connect the nature with the building and vice versa. This is achieved by;

  • Using the current sloped natural landscape as the land
  • Separating the functions into different buildings, so that the visitors can move from one building to the other by passing through the landscape
  • Locating each building on different level to give the visitors a variety of feelings; on the ground, underground, cantilevered above the river and cantilevered above the landscape
  • Building passageways on the sloped ground, which gives people different options to chose from and walk to their destination
  • Constructing structural tunnels with side openings on the passageways to make the visitors experience nature and built form at the same time
  • Making the building roofs curved with the same slope as the land

Design Studio 4 - Project 1 - Part 1 + Stage Design

Appreciation of Urban Morphology and Urban Architecture

A set of A5 hand drawn sketches in plan and perspectives to record my perceptions of the City of Parramatta and the approach to the Riverside Theatre project site and its context while walking from the Parramatta Railway Station.

Stage Design

The stage shows the type of buildings in Parramatta, where old and new constructions form the pattern of the city.
Two different materials were used in the model to indicate this variety.

"I have chosen to deal with abstraction because for me it provides the freedom to explore the unknown. To paint figuratively is to paint what I already know or have seen before. The language of abstraction is universal (as is the language of music) and can be accessible to anyone who takes the time to see. I want to use this language to express the beauty and the mysteries of our existence in an infinite universe of which we are only a small part. I hope my optimism and love of life will be contagious."

He creates three different types of artworks; Paintings, Installation arts and Sculptures. So I design his gallery in a way that all the spaces are appropriate for displaying the artworks. Also, as his artworks are mostly large in size, he needs to have an easy access from his working space to the gallery, as well as a large loading area. These are achieved by making his working area the same lebel as the gallery space, and recessing the entrance door to his apartment, so that it allows for a great sized loading zone at the front of the house.
